It was the year of 1986 and we, Hjördís and Issi, were going steady and in love. We were both finishing high school, but soon our paths drifted apart. Just less than twenty years later we found each other again and it was back on with full force. We built a house, and got married. Went back to school, and founded and started our business.

With our education and experience in hospitality and cooking we went for it, and officially registered our business on June 1st 2016. The company, Tralli Ltd., which we kept open for a few years with the intent to do something fun and seize the opportunity when it presented itself, which it did with Fish and Chips.

An interesting fact: Issi‘s grandfather, Jón Kristjánsson, was the rst in Iceland to open such a restaurant. Located at Hafnarstræti 105 in Akureyri, it was called the FoodCellar. Unfortunately it burned down in 1942, which has been a running joke in the family, because apparently the old man went on a bender with some British soldiers and forgot to turn off the pot.

The name of the company, Tralli, is taken from the dog that my grandparents had. We expect to be able to provide great service with quality ingredients from Þorbjörn HF from Grindavík, but here you can see where the fish comes from
